Podcasts relatively new are a way a business can drive traffic to their web site. Podcasts are some of the most innovative marketing techniques that business are using to drive traffic to their sites because, well, with such an entertainment focused society, we like to see and hear rather then read content all the time.

A podcast is basically a collection of media files that go out on the internet, able to be played, so people can watch. Podcasts are typically audio and video files, but they can also be just one or the other. Podcasts can be either downloaded or streamed live. There are several ways you can use podcasts in order to enhance your business. Here are the top reasons:

  • Customer podcasts: You should go out and find some of your current customers and talk to them about what they liked about your products/ services and what they thought about your business as a whole. If you tape the interview (with their permission) you can put it on your web site as a podcast.
  • Conferences: If you run either a large business or a business with members working freelance across the country, it is a good idea to hold conferences through podcast. You simply hold the conference with the team members you have and then post it online for those who could not attend.
  • CEO podcasts: In large businesses the CEO rarely makes an appearance to the regular workers. However, if the CEO were to do a regular podcast to his workers, say a once a month or every two- week podcast, they would be able to increase the feeling of a team throughout the company.
  • Product podcast: As a great way to show off your new product you can hold a podcast going over its greatest qualities and how to use it. A podcast like this can be an instructional video and it can be an effective sales pitch that shows just how much people need to buy your product.

A podcast is a great business tool and it is not just the ‘tech savvy' businesses that are using them effectively. There are many businesses that have seen that there is a large reactive market for podcasts and they are looking to profit off of it.

What businesses can use podcasts effectively?
While nearly any business can use podcasts effectively, there are certainly a few that will benefit a little bit more then the rest. Any business that has a larger concentration on the younger generation (10-30 years old) will probably get a bigger reaction from a podcast.

However, this is not to say that businesses looking to market to older people won't have success with podcasts. Podcasts, when used in the ways described above, can be effective in producing sales in any business.
