7 Signs that you have outgrown your home office
If you have a home office, running a small business then you certainly realize the need for space. Running any size business requires space. In fact, a home office may require even more space.
Why do you need extra space in your office? There are several reasons you will want to have additional space - here are some of the reasons:
- Your work place needs space because it is your work environment. If you have a cluttered office chances are you won't get much work done.
- A work place needs space because you need a separate working area then your living quarters. A home office has to be set apart in its very own space away from your living area because in order to work effectively you need to be set apart.
The question is though, how do you know if you have outgrown your work space or not?
Here are the top 7 signs you have outgrown your home office:
- You can't walk without tripping over things in your work place. If the floor is littered with junk and boxes then you probably have outgrown your home office.
- The living room of your house starts to replicate your office. Some people get so cluttered in their office's that they decide it is easier working in other parts of the home, such as the living room. If this is your case you probably have outgrown your space.
- The surface of your desk cannot be seen. If you can't see the color of your desk then your work place is probably too crammed in. People that stuff their drawers and then still have an overflow of paperwork too much in volume for boxes typically are crushed for space.
- Boxes and cabinets are taking up a large portion of your space then obviously you are struggling for room. When you don't have any other method for organizing then just throwing stuff in a box and stacking it on top of your other boxes you probably have run out of room in your home office.
- Your printer cannot be used until you clean up the junk around it. If the only way to print something out of your home office is to move the stuff in front of your printer then you have outgrown your home office.
- You need to take the boxes off the chairs when someone comes into your office. When you don't even have room for anyone but you in your office you are probably outgrown your home office.
- Your entire house looks like an office. Your home and office should be separate, so if your home looks like a giant office you have probably outgrown your office work space.
The biggest perk about working at home is, well, working at home in your own sort of luxury. If you are struggling for room and have outgrown your office however you may just need to consider moving to a bigger location…or just cleaning up!
