Today, there are many time management tools
and programs that simplify the process of time management and keep
records safe on the web, or on an external hard drive or flash drive.
The
beauty of these time management tools is that they not only work, they
mean less work to maintain, and can be accessed from anywhere.
In addition, many time management tools are available online, for free!
1. Ta-Da List
touts itself as being the "Web's Easiest To-Do List Tool" and USA Today
agrees: "over 4,000,000 to-do lists have been created." Ta-Da List is
free and to-do lists can be shared with others—an especially nice
feature when, say, comparing gift lists. Definitely a time management tool worth checking out .
2. Google Calendar
is not only a free, web-based calendar system, but it also provides a
host of additional features usually found in only commercial software,
such as a reminder service (a note pops up on your desktop work area to
remind of you of a task coming up). The reminder part of this time
management tool can be configured any way you like and is not obnoxious
as some others out there.
3. NowDoThis
is a nifty, web-based, free time management tool that lets you organize
your tasks without using an overwhelming to-do list. It is
beyond-simple to use. This link will take you to their blog page to see how NowDoThis works and how others use it.
4. Launchy,
while being another free time management tool, does ask for
donations—and it's worth contributing to. Launchy works with Windows as
well as Linux and launches your most important files and applications
in just a couple of clicks. Move over, Windows "Start!" Quicksilver is the Mac version of Launchy.
5. Evernote
is still among the most popular of all time management tools and it is
also free. Every idea, web clipping, and note can be saved to your
computer, phone, and to the web interface. It's incredibly useful and
even the basic free account is worth having.
6. WakeUpOnStandby
is a free time management tool that does what no others seem to do
well: it will wake your computer up from hibernation or standby modes
and run files for you without your having to baby-sit those tasks, then
put your computer back to sleep or do whatever else you define. Great
for running time-sensitive tasks on a schedule and when you're not
around to do them!
