Finding A Business Idea That Work With Your Strengths As Well As Your Interests
Identifying and finding your strengths
More people than ever are trying to find a way out of their corporate or office life. Maybe they're bored with their work or their talents are under utilized. Perhaps they just want to do something that makes them enjoy getting out of bed and out the door. In short, they're looking for a way to manage their own work life by becoming self-employed. However, there are a few things that need to be done before this can happen.
Can you really get started that quickly?
While it might seem difficult, you can go from your current job to running your own business in ninety days. But it all begins with having a plan and a clear outline of the steps that you need to take. Before you start typing up that resignation letter, you'll want to gather information, figure out what will be expected of you as well as determine what your life might be like in the future. And more importantly, you need to figure out what you're going to do.
What are your strengths?
What you need to realize about running your own business is that you will be the only one that customers turn to in order to get answers. You will be the one that is running the show and calling the shots. If you aren't good at what you do or you don't like what you're doing, how can you expect to be successful? Here are a few ways to start figuring out what kind of business you might be best suited for: •What jobs have you enjoyed in the past? While you might already be in the job that you love, are there ways that you could make your business run better? In terms of previous jobs, how can you make these businesses your own?
- What subjects did you like in school? While some of us may be writers at heart, others enjoyed sitting through algebra class. Think about what you're already good at - that will be the key to your success.
- What are you interested in? This seems like an easy question, but a lot of people just aren't sure what their passion is. Perhaps you have always wanted to do _______. Whatever that ______ is, how can you turn it into a moneymaking business?
- What can you see yourself doing? If you're going to live and breathe your business, you need to be able to see yourself doing it. Try to visualize your perfect work day, what hours you would be at your desk or in your car - down to the last minute detail, see your life as it will be when you re running a business and then ask yourself what you're doing during this time.
Having a dream is the beginning of any entrepreneur's journey. But fleshing out that dream, questioning it, and really examining it are the action steps that you need to begin with in order to be successful.
