(Part 3)

How Much Does Elance Cost?

Luckily, signing up for Elance is one of the easiest steps in starting this particular business. The first step, after visiting www.Elance.com, of course, is to decide which membership program best suits your needs as a service provider. There are three options: Select membership, Professional membership, or Limited membership. Each membership allows you to have a custom profile and portfolio of work. However, each level has an increasing number of bid allotments to bid for work.

Select -  Select membership is the cream of the crop - this is the where you will find the individuals and businesses that do the most deals on Elance. The primary difference with Select membership is your listing on Elance ; specifically, select members are given priority placement over other members.

There are also certain projects that are only open to Select members - if a potential client posts a project, they are given the choice of making it Select only or open to all - if they choose Select only, without a Select membership obviously you can't apply.

This type of membership comes with 120 bids and starts at $69.00 per month. However, you are given a discount for paying quarterly or annually. This membership level is suggested for businesses and agencies.

Professional -  Often, Professional membership is a better option for a service provider that is just getting started. With fees starting at only $29.00, you are allotted 80 bids per month, which is a great starting place. The real question is how seriously you plan to pursue projects on Elance. This membership level is suggested for professional individuals.

Limited -  Limited membership is not very efficient for someone that really wants to make a career with Elance With only 8 bids per month, you are likely to burn that allotment in one day. Starting at $11.00 per month, you may think being cost-effective is more important, but you will find a lot of Elance is a numbers game. If you limit the number of bids you can make so drastically, you will likely come up short.

Membership costs depend on what type of work you are offering. Click Here to view the Membership Costs and Service Categroires
