How To Go From No Job To Your Own Business For Under $300 Getting Started
(Part 1)

People all over the world long for the opportunity to let go of the shackles of employment and start their own business; however, few people realize they have the resources to make just such a decision at their fingertips. With the help of www.elance.com , you will have the opportunity to create a business that provides the freedom and convenience that is rarely available in a regular job and the income to live a comfortable lifestyle.

What is Elance ?

But what is Elance ? Elance is an online marketplace, where the world's best talent is showcased for businesses big and small alike. "Service providers" bid on projects offered by various employers after reading the details of their needs online. For less than $300.00, you could start your own business and finally take control of your destiny. Founded in 1999, Elance has made headlines for being the future in outsourcing. Listing almost 2,000 projects a week, there seems to be plenty of work to go around.

How It Works

People sign up with Elance . Service providers sign up to work freelance. Buyers sign up to get work done. •
Service providers pay a membership fee (although you can have a free listing you cannot get work with just this). They can post a portfolio of their work.

Buyers post projects on Elance . There is no fee. They can make a project open or restricted to invited service providers only. They can also make the project Select' (open to select members only), or open to all Service providers.

  • Service providers bid on the buyers' projects. They place a written bid and a bid price - and can upload samples of previous work, in the hope that they attract the buyers' attention.
  • Buyers and Service providers can discuss the project before any decisions are made via a private message board (PMB) system which records and logs all messages.
  • Buyers choose one or more service providers to complete their project.
  • Service providers accept or decline the project.
  • An up-front fee or stage payments can be negotiated, or the work can be invoiced on completion. •
Elance offers an escrow service, where they hold the funds for you while the project is being done. Either a buyer or a service provider can choose escrow as the payment method.
  • The work is done, and sent via the PMB system or uploaded into online workspace provided by elance.
  • Service providers raise invoices via Elance . Elance charges a percentage fee of all invoices to the service provider.
  • Buyers can make payments through Elance (recommended) or offline. Funds can be withdrawn into a bank account or by check if payment is made via Elance.
  • Buyers and sellers leave feedback.

How Elance Helps

It's easy to see, then, how using Elance can help! As a new business, for a relatively small outlay, you have instant access to a steady stream of work and potential buyers. You have a system for recording all communications, invoicing and receiving payments. And you can display a portfolio of previous work and showcase and market your business - all on one site. It's a great way to start your own business.
