How To Choose The Right Web Host For Your Site
(Part 4)
The Main Things That You Will Want To Look At In A Web Host The main things that will make a difference
While many of the features and services of a web host will prove to be beneficial, depending on the needs of the website, there a few things that you will want to keep in mind as you are looking through the various packages that web hosting services are advertising:
Data transfer - This is a fancy way of saying how much traffic your site will be able to handle. When a customer goes onto a website, there is an amount of bytes that are transferred to them. The more data transfer capability your site has, the higher amount of traffic you will be able to handle.
Reliability - If your servers are constantly down at your web hosting provider, your customers and visitors are going to get an error message. And while some problems are expected, constant problems can indicate a poor web host. This will reflect poorly on your business.
Disk space - This is the amount of space you will have to hold the content that you want to put on your website. While it might see like a good idea to buy the package with the higher amounts of bandwidth, the truth is that you probably won't use a lot of space.
Customer support - You will want to have access to customer support services every hour of the day in order to maintain your website and correct any problems that you notice. A good way to test this is to send various emails at different times of the day or call in the middle of the night.
Control panel - The control panel is the function that will allow you to make changes on your website. Is it simple or is it difficult to use? Try to look for web hosts that provide multiple control panel functions in an easy to use and accessible manner.
Server location - When looking for a web host, you need to know that your server is going to be safe. Be sure to inquire about the actual location of the server and how secure its placement is. Are there locks and security measures in place?
If your business website will be based on selling items to customers, you will also want to make sure that your web host will support SSL and a shopping cart. These will allow your customers to securely provide their financial information and shop with confidence.
