Helpful Business Thoughts

The Broader, The Better! Or Is It?

You may be doing business over a wide range of products or services. You may think the more things you are into, the more stable your business will be.

You may think, because you have many different business activities going on that if one fails, you will have another to depend on.

The key is not to have "MORE," but to "DO IT BETTER." What would you consider more stable? Having a lot of mediocre products/services, or having one dynamite product/service?

"Do Less, And Do It Better."

Keep An Open Mind  I often see a lot of business opportunities related to my own and other businesses. I like to keep an open mind. Many opportunities are around us. There are a lot of gimmicks in the marketplace, but also a lot of GOOD opportunities to help run your business.

You just have to know the good from the bad. I don't mind taking a few minutes to skim through some of the material out there. If it is related to my business, I will take a closer look. If not, I will just take a quick scan. If I was to bypass everything out there, how would I know what's going on in the market place?

The key is not to spend too much time on this. If you find something of interest, don't just jump into it; ask questions and do some research. After all, you are an intelligent person. If you do research, at least you will know into what you are getting. Just "weigh the pros and cons."

Can You Continue Doing What You're Doing?

Some people are in love with what they do; they love it so much they have created a business from it. They may love what they are doing, but they don't want to be involved in the business aspect; they just want to do their thing.

If this refers to you, then you better hire a manager, or learn to take care of your business. If you don't look after your business, you might not be able to continue doing what you love!

Doing A Task You Hate

Most people, when doing a task they hate, will ask themselves, "Why do I always have to do this?" They might say to themselves, "I wish I didn't have to do this." Or "I wish I was doing something else." This type of mentality makes your brain look for ways to put off or avoid doing the task all together. You then have a problem, because the task never gets done.

It has to be done, or you wouldn't be doing it and complaining about it in the first place.
The best way to overcome this is to do the task the very best you can. Give it your best. Think of ways to improve it. You will be surprised at how much more tolerable the task will be, if you give it your best.

Stay Centered

It is important, when doing a hard and long venture, to keep your mind in the present. You should stay centered. Don't look too far back or too far ahead. This will keep you focused on what you are doing. Looking back may slow you down, because you may feel you've come so far you need a break.

When you look too far ahead, you may find yourself a long way from completing your venture, then become fatigued, and you may even stop and think, "It's not worth it."

Just Do It!

When you're thinking of doing something, all you might do is just think about it. If you are going to do it anyway, then start now. Once you get started, it will be hard to stop. How many times were you stopped at a light behind a tractor trailer? When the light turned green, it seemed like it took forever for the truck to get going. Then when it was safe to pass, you found you couldn't, because the truck was going faster than the speed limit. It's the same with business.

It might be slow getting going; but once you're started, it will be hard to stop!

Eliminate Your Phobias!

A phobia is nothing, but a thought planted in your subconscious mind. It might have been planted there in your early childhood, or it may be from some ordeal in your life. However it got there, just remember: it's only a thought, nothing else. Phobias are success destroyers.

You may have a lot of things you want to do, but you're afraid. You have to eliminate these phobias. Find those thoughts, and get rid of them. The more you eliminate negative thoughts, the stronger you will be in your business, as well as your personality.

If you have to hire someone for everything you're afraid of doing, you will be working twice as hard with fewer results. You first have to train or explain what you want done; and after that, do you think the person has enough ambition to do the job as you would?

If you eliminated the phobia, you could do the critical jobs that need YOU as a business owner or manager. So get rid of the phobias. Check your online resources for programs that specialize in eliminating phobias.

Leave Your Comfort Zone

You can compare your comfort zone to a man walking down a street. He doesn't run or jog, but constantly walks. His muscles do not get stronger by running; his lungs do not get stronger; his brain doesn't receive extra oxygen. He is comfortable walking and doesn't want to run, because he will leave his comfort zone.

The result is he will always be walking. He will always get to where he is going slowly. When you leave your comfort zone, you stretch your capabilities.

If we all stayed in our comfort zone, we wouldn't have progress. When you leave your comfort zone, you may be doing or trying something you are afraid of doing: experimenting with the unknown.

That's OK. Once you try new things, the fear will go away. Leaving your comfort zone will result in greater achievement.

Modeling

Modeling can be a great time saver for any plan or goal. Instead of reinventing the wheel, you can model it after a successful business or person. Study the part of the business or person that interests you, and use that knowledge as a guide.

This doesn't mean you have to be a copycat. You can always add your creativity and improve what you are modeling. This powerful concept just gives you a head start.

Complaints Can Be An Advantage

When most people receive a complaint, they become defensive. You should consider complaints as an advantage. When you receive a complaint, then you have the opportunity to better your business. Use complaints as a guide to improve.

The guide is your best friend and asset. Make it easy for someone to file a complaint. You could have a complaint box, forms or other creative methods that allow complaints to be filed. Complaints should not be taken lightly; use them; it's to your advantage!
