Do People Want What You Have To Offer?
Some products and services simply don't work because people don't want them. If people don't want what you are offering, then you are going to have a tough time creating success. It's also very difficult to get the public to want something that is not already in demand.
Sometimes people get confused on the subjects of wants and needs. I will use a small example to clarify:
Jenny needs a car to get to work . Jenny has a need and that is the car. So if you sell cars, does that mean you are selling needs? Well, yes you are selling a need but Jenny is going to buy the car she wants - not necessarily the one she needs. Jenny could get by with the basic stripped down model that gets her form Point A to Point B. But rarely do people make a purchase like that.
Jenny wants a car with a hot new color, she wants the power seats, power mirrors, the Hi-fi with CD changer and MP3 Playback.
She want the Hi-performance engine, etc. Jenny needs a car but her WANTS determine they type of vehicle she will buy.
You will find success much easier if you find out what people want and give it to them. You're already past the persuasion stage, you're already past the "Here's what I have, who wants to buy it?" In other words, you already have people that want what you're selling. Now you have to present it in a way that satisfies their "wants."
So how do you find out what people want?
- Do a survey and ask your potential customers. To get them to answer the survey I suggest you offer something in return.
- Find your best competitor and study their offer.
- Do a search on the web, and research your market.
- Visit an online forum on your market topic, and read between the lines to find out what people want.
Give your customers want they want and success will come much easier.
