The A.I.D.A. Formula has been around for over 100 years, and is still being used today for one reason: it works!
A- Attention
The first principal in the A.I.D.A. formula is to grab the reader's attention. The attention grabber is in the headline or subhead. This formula works best if you attract the attention of readers who will actually be interested in what you are offering. For example, the headline FREE MONEY might get someone's attention, but then how long can you hold it if you are not actually offering "free money?"
I- Interest
The second principal in the A.I.D.A. formula is to get the reader interested. This can be achieved by simply stating the main benefit. For example: "We will send you a flood of targeted prospects for your website 24 hours a day.".
I- Desire
The third principal is desire. You want the reader to want the product you are selling, and you do this by improving what you have to offer, or creating an irresistible offer .
- To create a desire you can:
Incorporate the "fear of loss" like having a limited time offer.
- Add a bonus for ordering immediately. (free product, 0% financing, etc.)
- Offer the reader a special price. (10% off, free installation, etc.)
- Offer something that can't be offered by your competitors.
I- Action
The last principal in the A.I.D.A. formula is to get the reader to take action on your offer. You simply make the offer and tell the reader what you want them to do.
Just ask for the sale! This step is sometimes skipped because people don't want to ask the reader to take the final action. But if you don't ask, and tell the reader exactly what you want them to do, you won't get the order!
