Is Your Ad Copy Boring?

Your  ad copy must keep the reader's attention in order to do its job. No one will read boring copy. No one wants to read boring copy.

To make your copy interesting, just talk about your reader, i.e., talk about what your product/service will do for them. It's really that simple.

Imagine that you would like to purchase a new computer.

Example 1:  You're told the store has been in business for 8 years, the store offers a great guarantee, the store has won an award for it's service, etc. You reply with a yawn .

Example 2:  On the other hand, you are told how you can have one of the fastest computers available on the market! You'll have a computer that is loaded with the latest software, and you can choose any software package up to $250 to be installed for free. You'll also get a free on-site tune-up in 6 months. Your new computer will never be out of date because you can get an on-site upgrade in one year, if you choose the $125 upgrade option!

Can you see the difference between examples 1 & 2?

Copy can never be too long, only too boring. People will read long sales letters as long as they are interesting. Once you start to bore them, regardless of how short it may be, they are gone forever.
