Randall Tobias held top positions in several big-named companies but what really made him stand out above the rest was his success as the Chief Executive Officer of Elli Lilly and Company, a top pharmaceuticals corporation. Randall Tobias made his name in the business world as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of big companies. After getting his degree from Indiana University, Tobias worked for an auxiliary facility of AT&T's Indiana Bell Telephone Company. He left the company after a short period of time and spent two years as an artillery officer for the United States Army Artillery School located in Oklahoma.
Randall Tobias resumed his tenure at an AT&T office in Indiana. He was relocated to Illinois Bell Telephone Company in 1977, and later on became its Vice President. Randall Tobias made his way to the top of the company when he ultimately became the Chairman and CEO of AT&T International in 1991.
In 1993, Randall Tobias resigned from AT&T to work for Elli Lilly and Company, where he became Chairman, President and CEO. Under his leadership, the pharmaceutical company gyrated towards success. It was, in fact, a period full of achievement and dramatic growth for Elli Lilly. Randall Tobias was also at the peak of his game during those times. In 1999, Tobias retired from his job and was named Chairman Emeritus.
Some of the big corporations that Randall Tobias had served include AT&T, Chemical Bank of New York, Agilent Technologies, Knight Rider Inc., Petroleum Company, and Kimberly-Clark Corporation. But he really made his mark in the pharmaceutical industry as the CEO of Elli Lilly and Company.
