As such, you should be able to easily grasp what the couple wishes for their wedding and just provide advice and guidance 'here and there'.

You should be highly organized.  ORGANIZATION - this is the main thing that people expect of you. If you do not have an eye for details and a great capacity to think of everything, this small business idea is not for you.

You should a have a wide range of contacts.  A wedding planner provides a service. You are not the one providing the flowers (but you are in charge of ordering, getting and overseeing their set up); you do not bake the wedding cake (but you are in charge of ensuring that it arrives on time and placed exactly where it should be), and others. The point is this - oftentimes, couples are absolutely clueless as to what they should buy, where they should go, etc. and expect YOU to guide them... and you need to be ready to offer them ALL the possibilities.
