Use These Tips to Establish a Cleaning Service

Home Cleaning Service

When one thinks of a home business to start, a home cleaning service or offering maid services may not be the first thing that comes to mind because let's face it, it's a job that is not so glamorous.

But then again, why go for a business where you look good and yet not be able to really make a decent income out of it right?

The need for home cleaning services has been on the rise. This is not really surprising.

With everybody's fast-paced and hectic lifestyles, it seems that nobody has the time or energy to clean up their own homes!

Starting a Home Cleaning Service

Assuming that the non-glamorous aspect of the job does not concern you and you feel you have the skills to offer cleaning or house help services, the first thing to do if you want to venture into the home cleaning service business is to start getting organized.

Business Aspect.  Remember that you cannot just start offering your cleaning services to potential clients. You must first make the business a legal entity and to do so you need to get in touch with your local town hall or city hall and get instructions on how to establish a home-based business.

Accounting:  This is not a hobby; it's a business so do it right at the start by ensuring that your finances are in order. You may need to consult with someone if you have enough capital to start of your business (for paying business fees, buying supplies, paying staff, etc.)

Staff:  Depending on how big or small you intend your home cleaning service business to be, you may need staff to help you out so you can cater to more clients. Getting in touch with somebody even a friend or relative knowledgeable in hiring staff is a good idea.

Inventory:  A home cleaning service is not just showing up with a dust rag and a mop. Your clients will have different types of homes, furniture and equipment so you need a decent inventory of home cleaning service equipment. As you are just starting out, don't buy everything! Just cover the basics (e.g., a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner; cleaning fluids for wood, tiled floors, leather; and others) and buy more as you expand your business.

Marketing: Part of your cleaning service plan should be how to start getting clients. There are many ways to do this: spread the news starting with friends and family, post flyers on local community boards, place an ad on your local paper, you can even create a web site.
