Bottled water is extremely popular these days. That is why starting up a home-based bottled water business may prove to be a lucrative venture.
Purchase all the necessary equipment and designate a room in your house for this project. Start small and just work your way up as your bottled water business clientele grows.
How to Get into the Bottled Water Business
Before you set up shop for your bottled water business, determine your potential customers. Begin within your own neighborhood and expand outwardly.
Work the price around a budget that will be both affordable and suitable for the product being sold.
If you want to repackage the water and mark it as your own brand, decide on the name of your label. Choose a name that is both dependable and easy to remember. Send out flyers at least a week before your start operations to advertise your bottled water business.
You can also give out trials for your first few customers, just so you could entice them with your product. A trial period of thirty days for the water cooler plus two 5-gallon bottles of water is a good enough deal. Also, educate your potential customers about the importance of drinking safe and clean water.
Skills Needed:
Marketing skills. The way you present your product to the public is very important. Since you are selling purified bottled water, your packaging must evoke a sense of safety and purity. Although you may encounter some competition in this field every now and then, just make sure to maintain the quality of your product and to deliver orders on time. Establishing good rapport is one way of keeping your customers. Also, it helps to put up posters bearing your phone number so that interested persons can just call you up.
Inventory skills. Keep track of all the customers' orders. Computer literacy is an advantage in a bottled water business since you can just keep your records in your computer. Always update your inventory of all the water coolers and bottles. Replace or repair broken equipment as soon as possible to avoid delivery delays.
Experience Needed:
Familiarity with the water purification process is necessary in putting up a bottled water business. But if you do not have a background on water purification, then you can take advantage of books or other sources of information regarding the matter. Also, experience in direct selling is valuable in a bottled water business
Startup Requirements:
You would need to invest in a durable reverse osmosis system. Water dispensers and five-gallon water bottles are also required. Hire one or two personnel to help you operate your bottled water business. You need not purchase a new car for the deliveries since you can just use your own car for the meantime.
