The boat storage business is one good business to start, especially if you have land that has access to popular waterfronts.

How to Get into the Boat Storage Business
Land. It is not good to have a boat storage business 50 kilometers away from the waterfront. A good land location would be near waterfronts. If your house is just near a popular waterfront and you do have extra space, a boat storage business would be good.
Equipment. In your boat storage business, you will need a tow to bring the boat to your garage or storage area. You will also be needing cleaning and maintenance equipment if it is part of your services to do maintenance on the boats.
Skills Needed:
Marketing Skills. You will need to promote your boat storage business to people so you should have a good marketing strategy to do that. Note that you will be handling different types of people with this business so an engaging and outgoing nature would be good as well.
Inventory Skills. Although there's not much inventory in the boat storage business it's important nonetheless to ensure that the places where the boats are kept are maintained well. If you offer boating maintenance services, it's important to use the best equipment so that customers are encouraged to use your services than others.
Experience Needed:
Experience with boats is a plus as not knowing what you're doing or any sign of inexperience could make customers doubt your ability to take care of their boats. Some customers might also take advantage of you if you don't know anything about boats (e.g., accusing you if a boat part is lost or blaming you for scratches). In the boat storage business, having knowledge and experience around boats is needed.
Startup Requirements:
A boat stand is required in this business. If you do not have your own towing facilities, don't worry; the customer can hire a towing company of his own choice. The customer can also hire his choice of company in using a crane to haul the boat. A good business move would be to tie up with some towing and hauling companies in area so you can offer a ‘full service' option.
