SiteAdvisor is a user-friendly, intuitive browser that warns users before they interact with a potentially dangerous website.
Traditional PC security products concentrate on attempting to clean up computer problems after they've occurred. It's different with SiteAdvisor.
It complements while at the same time enhances existing PC security program software. This anti-spyware detects threats that regular security software miss - like online scams, spamming sites and spyware attacks. Home biz owners need this software to keep their PCs clean and healthy.
SiteAdvisor Equals PC Protection
There's a lot to love about the SiteAdvisor. It tries to keep PCs clean of unwanted spyware by giving clear-cut, visible warnings for websites that are known to carry spyware. Unlike the usual anti-spam and anti-spyware varieties, SiteAdvisor alerts users BEFORE they even begin venturing into unsafe locations online.
Originally created by two MIT engineers, this program software is currently offered as a free web browser plug-in that works with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Although having SiteAdvisor doesn't mean people don't need anti-spyware running on their computers, it does help in avoiding majority of sites that are to blame for the spread of spyware.
The installation of SiteAdvisor is pretty straightforward. When following the download link at the SiteAdvisor site, it will automatically detect what browser people are using and offer the appropriate download for it. Upon agreement with the terms of service, the browser will be displayed and start installing. Users will be prompted to restart their browser and upon re-launch, a dialog box will appear explaining what SiteAdvisor is along with permission for enabling it.
SiteAdvisor is easy to use. The SiteAdvisor button located on the toolbar will be yellow for questionable sites, red for sites to avoid and green for the safe ones. The program's pull-down menu can give more detailed info about a particular site. In the View Site Details, people will get a full report that includes any available questionable downloads, amount of spam email they're likely to get if they register, quality of third-party sites the website links to along with any user reviews.
Perhaps the handiest feature of this browser plug-in is its ability to overlay its ratings on top of Yahoo, MSN and Google search results pages. SiteAdvisor's color-coded check marks are extremely useful since they provide security information about unknown sites prior to someone visiting them.
The info reported by the SiteAdvisor program is simple and easy to understand. All in all, a wonderful product to have on hand in a home-based business. With Internet dangers lurking at every cyber corner, it's good to know that SiteAdvisor freeware is around to help stay protected. This software is available for download at www.siteadvisor.com
